England team coach Sven Goran Eriksson has named the squad for the upcoming Europe Zone Group 6 World Cup qualifiers, against Austria and Poland.

Liverpool FC's Peter Crouch received his expected call-up from the England Manager for the vital must-win home games taking place next Saturday (8th October), and on the following Wednesday.

With Wayne Rooney suspended for the next match, this has left the door open for the inclusion of fellow Manchester United striker Alan Smith to the squad. He will be joined as an up-front option by the on-form Charlton Athletic striker Darren Bent.

Arsenal's Sol Campbell also returns to International duty after a lengthy absence due to injury.

David James is the only notable exclusion from the squad, with Norwich City's Robert Green, and on loan Liverpool keeper Chris Kirkland joining Paul Robinson in the chase for the England no.1 shirt.

Squad to be chosen from:

Goalkeepers:
Robert Green (Norwich City), Paul Robinson (Tottenham Hotspur), Chris Kirkland (West Bromwich Albion*)

Defenders:
Ashley Cole (Arsenal), Sol Campbell (Arsenal), Luke Young (Charlton Athletic), John Terry (Chelsea), Jamie Carragher (Liverpool), Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United), Ledley King (Tottenham Hotspur)

Midfielders:
