England & Newcastle United Striker Michael Owen Aiming To Be Fit In Time For England's World Cup Finals Preparations
England and Newcastle United striker Michael Owen has boosted England’s World Cup chances by insisting that he will return to playing action soon. Owen is hoping to start running in a week, and could be back in action by April.
Owen is sure he can recover in time to be fit for the World Cup Finals in June, saying: “I'm not far off jogging, maybe another four or five days, maybe a week and I might start light running. I'm still on course.”
“I have done plenty of worrying, but I can see the finishing line and I am heading for that now.”
The former Liverpool star added: “With bones you do get quick healers, but once it's got a crack it takes a set time.
“If I can be back playing by the end of March then I would be delighted.”
Owen received the injury during Newcastle United’s match against Tottenham Hotspur, in their English Premiership encounter at White Hart Lane.
“When I lay on the bed at Tottenham and knew I had broken it that was the worst 20 minutes of the whole process because you wonder how bad it is,” finished Owen.
