England Manger Steve Mcclaren Denies Row With Rooney After Drawing With Israel In Euro 2008Submitted by Anson Fernandes on Mon, 26/03/2007 - 17:50.
Steve McClaren has denied reports which suggested he had been involved in a row with Wayne Rooney following England's draw with Israel. England threw in a disappointing display in Israel on Saturday, with the 0-0 draw prompting McClaren to admit he had been 'disappointed and frustrated' with the team's failure to find the back of the net. Various reports on the press on Monday suggested Rooney felt the brunt of McClaren's ire in the dressing room. It was claimed that, having been on the end of a verbal volley from McClaren, Rooney threw his boots against a wall before storming out of the dressing room. However, McClaren has told Sky Sports News that the reports are well wide of the mark. "It is an absolute load of rubbish," McClaren told Sky Sports News. "I don't read many newspapers, but what I have been hearing and there are two or three things which are an absolute load of rubbish. "People are just trying to stir things and we are angry and disappointed about them. "If it was true, yes, you could accept that, but it's an absolute load of rubbish. "The belief and the togetherness of the squad has never been better. "What happens in the dressing room is private and stays private and I don't want to discuss that, but to say there is a rift between me and Wayne Rooney is absolutely ridiculous. "We are professional together, we get on well with each other and I have great respect for him and he has for me. "And it is an absolute load of rubbish to say there is a rift." in favorites | email this page
