England recorded their sixth consecutive victory in a convincing 6-0 victory over Jamaica at Old Trafford, Manchester on Saturday. Liverpool’s Peter Crouch was the hero of the afternoon completing an impressive hat trick despite missing a second half penalty. Four goals from Frank Lampard, Jermaine Taylor (og), Peter Crouch and Michael Owen in the first 32 minutes of the first half ended the game as a contest.

Two more goals were added in a quieter second half. After 67 minutes Crouch scored his second with a simple tap-in from Liverpool teammate Jamie Carragher’s cross, following a smart move on the right. On 82 minutes England were awarded a penalty after Owen was tripped up in the penalty area. Crouch stepped up to complete his hat trick, but his chipped shot flew over the crossbar rather than into the net, and the opportunity appeared to have gone.

Seven minutes later however the Liverpool hitman made it three with the best goal of the game, a nicely converted shot from the edge of the area following a slick move. The England squad can now travel to Germany on Monday with confidence oozing through the ranks.
