England sprinted into a convincing 4-0 lead against Jamaica at Old Trafford, Manchester, in their final warm-up match on home soil prior to their departure for Germany on Monday. Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard opened the scoring after 11 minutes, converting a Michael Owen pass from the left. Five minutes later Jermaine Taylor scored an own goal from a David Beckham set piece to make the score 2-0.

Liverpool’s Peter Crouch found the net in the 29th minute with a deflected shot from the edge of the area, and three minutes later the score was 4-0 when Michael Owen beat the rather shaky Jamaican offside trap, rounded the goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts and tapped into an empty net.

Jamaica created a couple of opportunities with Jason Euell going closest with a fierce shot, well saved by Paul Robinson in the England goal.
