In what is obviously a very fraught time for the National team, England have dropped out of the top 10 in FIFA's world rankings list for the first time since June 2004, the worst sort of news they could possibly have in their run up to their next crucial qualifying matches.

Sven Goran Eriksson's side fell four places to 11th after losing 4-1 in their friendly against Denmark and 1-0 in their infamous World Cup qualifying match against Northern Ireland.France have moved up three positions to sixth and in-form Sweden have moved back into the top 10.

The Republic of Ireland are down seven to 21st, Scotland are up 12 to 74th and Wales move up one place to 82nd.

Brazil stay top but Holland have leap-frogged Argentina into second place after World Cup qualifying wins over Armenia and Andorra.
Denmark (up four to 14th), Poland (up five to 17th) and Cameroon (up six to 22nd) are three of the other teams to have improved rankings in the latest list
