England midfielder Joe Cole has been unsettled by rumours that he may be leaving Chelsea in the summer and wants to sign a new deal.

Cole says he doesn’t want to leave Chelsea and hopes to sort out a new deal with The Blues before the World Cup begins.

The playmaker has just 12 months remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge and there have been suggestions that he could be moving on in the summer, possibly to Manchester United.

But Cole says he is fully committed to the Premiership champions and wants to confirm a new deal as soon as possible.

“There is no way I want to leave Chelsea," Cole revealed. "The contract talks are going well. I've talked to (Chelsea chief executive) Peter Kenyon and I believe we want the same things.

“It's not about money. That part of the contract is done but there are still a few things to be sorted out.

“We're not far away though and I'm hoping we can get everything sorted out before the World Cup so there are no distractions before what is one of the most important times in my career so far."
