Dutch midfielder George Boateng is set to pledge his future to Premiership side Middlesbrough.
He was one of Boro’s most influencial players last season, playing a role similar to that of Chelsea’s Claude Makelele, and helped the team to the final of the UEFA Cup.
The 30 year-old Oranje anchor-man, who missed out on a place in Holland’s World Cup squad, is out of contract later this month, and even though there has been a few interested clubs eyeing him up, he’s keen to sign a new contract and finish his career at the Riverside Stadium.
His representative Sigi Lens said: “We look to conclude talks early next week with a three-year deal on the cards.”
He added: “It’s a very good thing for George and hopefully there’s going to be no problems.”
However, after lengthy talks - Boro now look set to seal his signature on a long-term deal.
"We will look to conclude talks early next week. It is a three-year deal,” said Lens.
Lens admitted that there has been interest in the experienced Dutchman, but Boro look to have secured the deal despite the interest.
"There have been a few offers," he said.
