Dortmund Defender Sebastian Kehl Injured Increasing Germany Squad Injuries Worry For Jürgen Klinsmann

Borussia Dortmund defender Sebastian Kehl's place in Germany's World Cup squad could be in doubt after the midfielder suffered an ankle injury on Saturday.

26-year-old Kehl suffered the injury late in a 1-1 draw against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga and was due to have further tests on Sunday.

"It could be a ligament tear," Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc told reporters.

This is bad news for Germany head coach Jürgen Klinsmann, who has been experiencing injury problems and was banking on the fitness of Kehl and who made his comeback for Germany after a long absence in the 4-1 win over the United States in March.

Klinsmann names his World Cup squad on May 15.

The hosts have been drawn in Group A alongside Poland Costa Rica and Ecuador. The Germans will kick-off the World Cup Finals in their Group A match against Costa Rica in Munich on June 9.
