Russian Football Association spokesman Andrei Malosolov announced on Tuesday that Russia is to play an international friendly game against Defending World Football Champions Brazil.

The Lokomotiv stadium is the most probable venue for the game, which will find Russia with Under-21 coach Aleksandr Borodyuk as it's coach. The Russian Football Association has yet to appoint a successor to Yuri Semi who resigned as national coach in November.

"The match has been already confirmed, so has the date. It will take place in Moscow on March 1," Malosolov said. The match is in Brazil's coach schedule for the preparation against Croatia, which is the first opponent of the World Champions in the Germany 2006 World Cup Finals.

Russia failed to qualify for the World Cup, finishing third in Europe's Group D behind Portugal and Slovakia.

For the history, Brazil and Russia have played 12 friendly matches, with Russia winning three, losing seven and ending two games in a draw. The Brazilian team scored a total of 22 goals against Russia’s 10.
