Czech Republic have beaten fellow World Cup Finalists Trinidad & Tobago with a convincing 3-0 victory at the Toyota Arena, Prague, on Saturday, in their final warm-up match. Especially satisfying for Czech coach Karel Bruckner was seeing Borussia Dortmund’s Jan Koller, just returning from knee surgery, score a brace of goals in a dominant first half.
Koller’s first came after just 6 minutes when he headed Karel Poborsky's cross from the left past a despairing Kelvin Jack in the Soca Warriors' goal. He then provided the lay-off for Juventus’ Pavel Nedved to finish emphatically from the edge of the area after 22 minutes. Koller took his second in the 40th minute, with an easy tap-in. In a quieter second half Czech Republic continued to dominate but failed to convert their chances.
The Czech Republic are in Group E alongside Italy, Ghana and the United States. Trinidad & Tobago, appearing at their first finals, face England, Sweden and Paraguay in Group B.
