Czech Republic and Borussia Dortmünd midfielder Tomas Rosicky has, according to the Czech Republic head coach Karel Bruckner, had a medical with Arsenal regarding a summer transfer.

Rosicky, who moved to Dortmünd for a Bündesliga record fee of £18 million (€25 million) when he joined from Sparta Prague in 2001, was key to the Czech Republic’s qualifcation, scoring five goals for the Czech’s to book their tickets to the World Cup Finals.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder, who has a contract with Dortmund that runs until 2008, has been a Atletico Madrid target for some time now, but it seems that The Gunners may have secured the deal for the Republic’s penalty expert.

Czech coach Brückner has confirmed the Arsenal interest saying:
"I am surprised it did not come to light earlier.

"We have tried to keep our promise to keep quiet but I must now admit that Tomas is undergoing medical tests."

The Czech Republic star has scored 15 goals in 53 appearances for his country, many of those from the penalty-spot.
