England defender Ledley King will be fit for the World Cup despite sustaining a stress fracture to his left foot, says Tottenham Hotspur manager Martin Jol.

Spurs defender King will be out for the rest of the English Premier League season after suffering a stress fracture to the fourth metatarsal on his foot in Saturday's 1-0 win at Everton.

"He will take three or four weeks to recover so of course he will be fit for the World Cup," Spurs' manager Jol told Sky Sports before Tottenham's game against Manchester United at White Hart Lane on Monday.

Dutchman Jol said King's injury was a big blow for Spurs but he was confident he had the squad to cope with the loss of his experienced captain.

King, who is expected to be chosen by England boss Sven Goran Eriksson for the upcoming tournament in Germany in central midfield, has played a pivotal role in Tottenham's current placing of fourth in the league and fighting for a Champions League spot.

England have been drawn in Group B in the World Cup Finals alongside Trinidad and Tobago, Paraguay and Sweden.

They begin their campaign against Paraguay in Frankfurt on June 10.
