Croatia To Face Poland In Pre-World Cup International Friendly Match
Croatia and Poland will play in a friendly warm-up match just a week before World Cup kicks-off in Germany.
“The match has been agreed to by both sides and will be played on June 2 in Wolfsburg,” Croatian federation spokesman Ivan Rotim said Monday.
The two teams, who have never met in international competition, are using the match to get accustomed to the climate and conditions in Germany before the tournament kicks off on June 9.
Poland has won three international friendlies recently, including a 2-1 win away to Saudi Arabia last week. Croatia recently beat two-time World Cup champion Argentina 3-2 in Bern, Switzerland.
Poland have been drawn in Group A alongside the host’s Germany, Costa Rica and Ecuador, while Croatia are in Group F with five-time World Cup champions Brazil, Japan and Australia.
