CONCACAF Zone Qualifiers Overview.

Mexico have guaranteed a place in next summers FIFA World Cup Final's in style, with a 5-0 win over Panama in Mexico City. Luis Marquez opened up the scoring for the home side in the 31st minute, but it was in the second half that the Mexican's got into their rhythm, with goals from Rafael Marquez early on in the second half, and with Jared Borgetti stroking home a penalty four minutes later to make it 3-0.

The floodgates then opened for the Mexican's, and goals from Francisco Fonseca in the 75th and Pavel Pardo in the 78th minutes, left the Panamanian's reeling, and willing for the full-time whistle to be blown.

A terrific win for 'The Tricolor', which see's them re-take top spot from the USA.

Costa Rica have consolidated their position in third place in the group with a 2-0 win over fellow CONCACAF rivals Trinidad and Tobago. Goals in both halves from Alvaro Saborio (14th minute), and Walter Centeno (49th minute), were enough to see the Costa Rican's attain 13 points in the group, five above Guatemala, and now six points above Trinidad and Tobago, with only two matches left to play.

A win in one of those matches will see the Costa Ricans guarantee a place in the finals.

This loss has concreted Trinidad and Tobago in second from bottom place in the group, and now they have no hope of qualification for the finals.

In the final game in the group, Guatemala drew 0-0 against the USA, (who have already qualified), held on throughout the first half. Nothing changed in the second half, with the Guatemalan's unable to break down the USA's defence, the USA seeming to be going through the motions, no doubt unaware of Mexicos massive win, which takes the USA down to second place in the group, equal on points with Mexico, but with less goals scored.

Guatemala will hope to keep their current 4th place, and so a play-off against either Bahrain or Uzbekistan from the Asia zone.
