Liverpool Striker Djibril Cisse Comes To-Form In Time To Hope To Make Domenech's France World Cup Squad

France and Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse has enhanced his chance of making the France World Cup squad, coming to striking form just in time to hope to force his way into Les Bleus’ squad for Germany.

Cisse scored both goals in Liverpool’s 2-1 away victory over fellow FA Cup finalist’s West Ham in the English Premiership on Wednesday to alert France head coach Raymond Domenech to his current form.

This has taken Cisse’s tally to a total of 17 goals, with 8 league goals this season for the European champions, second only to Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Cisse has already voiced his concerns about his place in Les Bleus' World Cup squad for the Finals in Germany this summer.

The 24-year-old French striker has often failed to secure a first-team spot at Anfield under Spanish manager Rafa Benitez and has often found himself behind Peter Crouch, Fernando Morientes and even Robbie Fowler in the first-team pecking order.

But Cisse has come into form at just the right time to hope to secure a place in Domenech’s World Cup squad.

The former Auxerre forward still believes he has something to offer the French squad but knows he is not guaranteed a place in Raymond Domenech’s squad for Germany.

“Yes, I'm a bit worried. There is always a fear about not being in the squad," Cisse told French newspaper Le Parisien in March.

“I must not complain, I just need to shut up, work and give my best.”

Liverpool smashed their transfer record when they paid more than £14 million for French ace Djibril Cisse in July 2004.

The record signing striker made an amazing recovery from a broken leg which he suffered in a Premiership match against Blackburn Rovers and returned to action in April 2005, in time to score a vital penalty in the Champions League shoot-out win over AC Milan to help Liverpool lift the European Cup.

Cisse, who is being touted with a summer move, says he is happy at the Merseyside club, has reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool and insists he is settled at Anfield.
