Chelsea To Contact FIFA About Possible Illegal Approach For Holland Star Robben, Arsenal's Fabregas Also Had Talks

Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has said Chelsea intend to contact FIFA to investigate an alleged illegal approach from Real Madrid for Dutch winger Arjen Robben.

The 22-year-old Holland star has been heavily linked with a move to the Spanish giants after the new Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon has admitted his interest in bringing not only Robben, but also Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas and AC Milan’s Kaka to the Bernabeu.

Speaking to Sky Sports News on Wednesday Calderon confirmed that there had been previous contact with Robben regarding a move and that a deal is still in the pipeline.

Calderon said: “We are trying to bring three (players) in. Arjen Robben is number one.

“Mijatovic (the Real Madrid sporting director) was the one in charge of that, he was in touch with (Chelsea owner Roman) Abramovich, and he said that everything will be ok about that, but we are getting in touch with the clubs.

“All three players have a contract and we need to get an agreement with their clubs.

“In theory (with Robben) we can get an agreement, that is what they told me. I understand that is correct. First of all I know that he was in touch with the player.

“The player (Robben) wants to come here, to Real Madrid,” concluded Mr Calderon.

But Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon has immediately retaliated saying: “We note that Mr Calderon confirms Real Madrid spoke to Arjen.

“As a result Chelsea will be writing to FIFA to ask them to investigate an illegal approach by Real Madrid.”

“The Arjen Robben situation could not be any clearer,” continued Kenyon.

“There have been no meetings or conversations between the Real Madrid sporting director Predrag Mijatovic with any Chelsea officials, anyone mandated to act on Chelsea's behalf or owner Roman Abramovich about Arjen's future.

“Any indication that a transfer is possible is completely untrue. We will not be entertaining any offers for Arjen, he is not for sale,” finished Kenyon.

Calderon also revealed that Real Madrid have also been in contact with Arsenal’s Spanish World Cup international midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

Speaking about Fabregas, who became the youngest player in Spanish history to participate in a World Cup when he came on as a substitute in Spain’s 4-0 victory against Ukraine, he said: “He wants apparently to come here.

“We have been talking to him previously and of course we now have to get in touch with Arsenal, they have the last-word in this,” later saying he saw the likelihood of a move to the Bernabeu as “70% likely”.

“The third one is Kaka, the Brazilian playing in (AC) Milan. We know that it is going to be difficult because Milan do not want to sell the player, but if the player wants to leave, it gives us more possibilities.”
