Nigerian teenage midfield star John Obi Mikel, a target of both Manchester United and Chelsea, is ready to sign a deal with Jose Mourinho's Chelsea next season according to a source in the players family.

Nigeria's 'The Tide' quotes a family member this week saying that the tussle between Manchester United and Chelsea over Obi Mikel's transfer had been settled, with Chelsea having secured the deal.

"As I am talking with you now, the matter has been resolved and Mikel will start playing when the league resumes in England after the World Cup," the family source said.

"All the parties involved have reached compromise and this is good news to us.

"When the season starts, Mikel will be playing for Chelsea."

The family source failed to give any further details of the deal, but confirmed that Mikel's agent, Ola Shittu, has been in negotiations to sign the talented 19-year-old.

"The agent [Shittu] called me immediately after the meeting last week to tell me."

Um, Mikel has already signed with United. He signed last year, with his contract starting on 1 Jan 2006. He's been refusing to play for United. So presumably what has happened is that United have agreed to sell him to Chelsea.
