Charlton Athletic Striker Darren Bent To Be Chosen By Sven Goran Eriksson For England Friendly V Uruguay

England head coach Sven Goran Eriksson has confirmed that Charlton Athletic striker Darren Bent will be picked for England's squad against Uruguay for the friendly on March 1.

The call-up will be a massive boost for the Addicks star striker, and a good performance against Uruguay will increase his claims for a place in England's World Cup squad.

Eriksson will be without Michael Owen after the Newcastle United striker broke his foot, so Wayne Rooney will have a new partner in next week's game against Uruguay at Anfield.

"It might be [the last chance to have a look at Bent]," Eriksson told Sky Sports News.

"He will be picked that's for sure."

Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch will come into contention to face Uruguay and Eriksson is determined to field a strong side.

"We will start the best possible team, of course I have to take attention to some of the players playing Champions League this week and the week after Champions League again, so I will have that in my mind," he added.

"We will pick four strikers. Who will play up front with Rooney I am not sure, but probably it will give a possibility for two of them."
