Alan Pardew, West Ham United's manager, suggested that England's manager Sven-Goran Eriksson needs to rest Chelsea's Frank Lampard more and bring in Tottenham Hotspur's Mickael Carrick in order to ensure a strong England side in the World Cup.

The West Ham manager wrote an article in the Times about how he sees the current England team after it's first 2 games in the tournament. Pardew is praising Carrick's performance with Spurs and feels that he is the perfect man for England.

He also suggested leaving Rooney play for an hour in the Sweden game so he can regain his match fitness sooner, despite Eriksson's assurances that Roone is match fit.

Pardew praised the substitutions made during the match against Trinidad & Tobago, adding that they refreshed the team and brought the result. He also noted that the fact that England has conceived no goals in the tournament is one of the greatest advantages.
