Blackburn’s Bentley, Villa’s Young In England Squad But Liverpool’s Pennant Ignored – Three Lions Squad For Euro 2008 Qualifiers

Liverpool’s Jermaine Pennant has been overlooked while Blackburn Rovers’ David Bentley has been picked in Steve McClaren’s England squad announced on Friday.

The Three Lions will take on Israel at Wembley on September 8 and meet Russia on September 12 in the Euro 2008 qualifiers.

Steven Gerrard, who is currently recovering from a toe fracture is included in the side, while Wayne Rooney, Kieron Dyer and David Beckham are out with injuries.

Spurs’ Jermaine Jenas does not find a place but Aston Villa’s Ashley Young along with Rovers’ Bentley are called up for the first time for the seniors.
