Walter Smith's under strength Scotland ground out a 0-0 draw against a determined and sophisticated Belarus team in this evening's World Cup qualification match.

While many Scotland fans were hoping for a win, a draw, in the event was the best that they could do, in fact they were rather lucky to have emerged with a point, thanks to a spirited and determined display from the home team who,on the balance of play, deserved to win the tie.

Although this result reduces Scotland's chances of reaching the World cup finals to the academic, they are still in with a chance, albeit very slim. The positives that Walter Smith and his support staff will have taken from their last two games will stand them in good stead for the future, however, it appears that their efforts in this competition will eventually prove to be too little, too late.
