David Beckham has said that he wants to remain at Real Madrid despite having spent much of this season on the substitutes bench since the arrival of new Real coach Fabio Capello.

31-year-old Beckham has now stated that he is determined to secure a new contract with the Spanish giants despite recent rumours that the may be on the move from Real Madrid.

“I am not considering any possibility of a transfer at the moment. My family and I are very happy in Madrid,” said Beckham.

“I want to stay with Real Madrid because I believe in the [clubs] project, and respect the coach.”

Beckham is currently re-negotiating his deal at The Bernabeu, with his original four-year contract running out this summer.

He stood down as England captain after England's quarter-final exit at the World Cup and was succeeded by Chelsea captain John Terry.

But since then, new England manager Steve McClaren has decided not to select him for any internationals this season, with new Real coach Lippi also relegating Beckham to the substitutes bench for many of Real’s games this season.

Despite reports, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger recently said he will not be making a move for the former England captain when the transfer window reopens in January,

The Gunners boss said: “I’ve said already that I will not buy anybody in January, whether that’s free or with a fee. I have the number of players I need.”

“David Beckham’s age would not prevent me from buying him but I’m only focused on what we already have this season,” added the Frenchman.
