Bayern Munich coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has been quoted in media for his huge admiration of Real Madrid’s Spain striker Raul.
Hitzfeld told Marca: “If I had to recruit a Real Madrid player, I would recruit Raul. For me he is the best, a great professional and a great person.”
“If he wanted to sign for Bayern, I would personally go get him,” Hitzfeld added.
29-year-old Raul, who is the all-time leading Spain goal-scorer with 47 international goals, has been dropped from the side by Luis Aragones for his poor form, while Real coach Fabio Capello has also kept him on the bench at times.
Madrid-born Raul, who played for Atletico Madrid youth from 1990-1992 and has been since at Real, is contracted at the El Santiago Bernabeu until 2010.
Raul, who is the 12th highest goal-scorer in the history of Spain's top flight, with 185 goals in 418 games, has also been earlier linked with a move to Liverpool.
Bayern Munich face Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday in a Champions League last 16, first leg tie.
