FIFA have announced a newly-created Gillette Best Young Player Award, for the player who has shown the most talent and advancement during the qualifying, and during the World Cup Finals.

The award will be presented with the prize during the World Cup Finals in Germany this summer.

Argentina's young star Lionel Messi, along with England and Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, his Portuguese team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo have, among others, been been highlighted by FIFA as a potential award candidates for the newly-created award, to be presented during the World Cup Finals in Germany this summer.

Other players that were highlighted as likely winners of the accolade include Germany’s Lukas Podolski and Arsenal's Swiss defender Philippe Senderos.

Fans will be voting for their favourite youth player once the tournament begins, and the results will be announced at the Finals.
