Barcelona's Messi Injured During Today's Training Session - Likely to Miss Argentina v Serbia & Montenegro Match
Argentina's medical team announced that Barcelona's Lionnel Messi was injured and might miss the team's next encounter with Group C rivals Serbia & Montenegro.
A spokesman from the medical team told reporters that Messi might miss the next match as he injured his left foot during today's training camp.
Having recently recovered from a thigh injury, which left him out of action for many weeks, Lionnel Messi was hoping to make a strong comeback during the World Cup 2006 tournament in Germany.
The spokesman said that his injury will be monitored overnight and news on whether he will miss Argentina's second match will be made available tomorrow. However the injury does not appear to be severe and chances are that he will make it to the third match against Holland.
"It's from a blow or a strain to the left foot, but it's not a tear," a source from the team's medical team told the AFP.
