Led by Albiceleste head coach Alfio "Coco" Basile, the Argentina national team practiced on Thursday morning, before flying to Venezuela to take part in the 2007 Copa America Finals tournament, starting on June 26, in Venezuela.
The squads last training session before the team left for the 42nd edition of the tournament was the first time Barcelona winger Lionel Messi linked-up with the Albiceleste squad following his return from the end of the Primera Liga season in Spain.
During the training session, the squad played an informal match (9 vs 9) for about 35 minutes, which proved to be quite an entertaining encounter in itself.
On one side, wearing red, were Abbondanzieri, Zanetti, Mascherano, Milito, Pinola, Veron, Aimar and Hernan Crespo.
On the other, in blue, Carrizo, Burdisso, Ayala, Heinze, Lucho Gonzalez, Gago, Orion, Messi and Tevez. The side in blue won 4 to 3 with two goals from Tevez, one from Messi and Carrizo. For the reds, two by Aimar and another from Hernan Crespo.
Basile is due to name the full 23-man Argentina squad shortly.
