European and La Liga champions Barcelona have been boosted by the news that striker Samuel Eto’o, attacking midfielder Lionel Messi and defender Lilian Thuram will return to training soon. And once the trio is fit to play, the Catalans will look to resurrect their ceredentials in the La Liga and Europe after going through a stutter in both the competitions as well as losing the World Cup of clubs final to Brazil’s Internazionale, in their absence.

At present, Barca are second in the Spanish League three points behind Sevilla, albeit with a game in hand, and have been drawn against 2005 winners Liverpool in the draw for the last 16 knock-out phase of the Champions League.

The Spanish side has announced that Cameroon international Eto'o, who has been sidelined with a right knee injury since September, will return to training in mid-January.

It is also believed that Argentina’s Lionel Messi could resume training at the start of February after being out since the middle of November with a foot injury. While, veteran French World Cup winner Lilian Thuram, who tore a muscle in his left leg last week, should be fit again at the beginning of February.
