Barcelona Coach Frank Rijkaard Mocks At Real Coach Fabio Capello's Policy Over LA-bound David Beckham

Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard has said he disagrees with Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello’s policy of excluding former England captain David Beckham from Real’s line-up in the remainder of the season.

Daily Sport quoted the Barca coach and former Netherlands player, as saying: “In theory I wouldn't sideline the player. You always have to look to the interests of the team.”

Rijkaard stressed that “everyone wants to win things and if a player has a contract he can still keep on working.”

In fact, the 31-year-old midfielder Beckham, while announcing his LA Galaxy move on Thursday, said that for the remainder of his term, he will be dedicated to the club.

Rijkaard disclosed that he was in a similar situation as Capello is now, when Sweden striker Henrik Larsson decided on a move to Helsingborg in February last year.

Despite that, Larsson, who is on loan at Manchester United now, was fielded upfront by Barca and he even played a key role in their victory over Arsenal in the Champions League final.

Rijkaard also has no qualms over fielding Argentina international midfielder Javier Saviola, who is speculated to be offloaded.
