Bahrain Announce Friendlies Against Panama & Jamaica, Before Meeting Trinidad & Tobago In PlayoffsSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 21/10/2005 - 19:31.
Asia Zone play-off contenders Bahrain have arranged two friendly matches to warm-up for their forthcoming World Cup Finals two-legged play-off against the CONCACAF Zone 5th placed team, Trinidad and Tobago. First they will face CONCACAF teams Panama, on October the 28th, and then on to face Jamaica on November the 4th for their friendly warm-up matches. They then face a short journey to Port of Spain, the Capital of Trinidad, for their match against the T & T ‘Warriors’ on the 12th of November. Bahrain booked their play-off place with Trinidad and Tobago by beating Azerbaijan in the Asia Zone. The first game had to be replayed, due to a “Refereeing error”, which denied the Azeri’s their 1-0 first-leg lead. The first-leg was replayed, and ended 1-1, with the second-leg in Bahrain ending in a dull 0-0 draw which saw the Bahraini’s progress due to the away goal rule. This has since seen the Azerbaijan team apply for entry into the European UEFA zone of qualification for future World Cup qualification, after what the Central Asian state called an “injust decision” robbed it of a chance of reaching the World Cup finals this time round. in favorites | email this page
