As if they needed any extra incentive, Italy's World Cup players have been promised nearly £200,000 (approx €300,000) each should they lift the trophy in Germany in July.
The Italian Football Federation are understood to have made just over £4m available as prize money for the 23-man Azzurri party if they are crowned world champions.
Italy last lifted the trophy in 1982 in Spain, the FIGC are keen to do all they can to motivate the players and are ready to hand out £178,000 each if necessary.
The Azzurri, led by Marcello Lippi, will also net a bonus for finishing as runners-up and for the first time will also receive around £75,000 if they end up third.
Italy have been drawn in Group E in the World Cup Finals, alongside the USA, Czech Republic and World Cup newcomers, Ghana.
