Australia & Middlesbrough Striker Mark Viduka Hints At Boro Exit After World Cup Finals - Everton Show InterestSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Fri, 03/03/2006 - 00:13.
Australian and Middlesbrough striker Mark Viduka has hinted that he may leave Boro after the World Cup, admitting that he didn't want to move in during the transfer deadline in January because he wouldn't get settled into his new club in time. With the World Cup coming up this summer, Viduka believes it is in his best interests to stay at the Premiership club, but the Socceroo has had a problem maintaining a first-team place in Steve McClaren’s squad, which could affect Viduka’s chances of being picked in Guus Hiddink’s squad for Germany. It is believed that Premiership rivals Everton are interested in the former Leeds and Celtic ace, and may put in a bid for the striker after the World Cup Finals. Viduka, in an interview with the Australian Daily Telegraph said: “I was not really looking to move in January. “When you go then, you're always making up time, it takes you a couple of months to get settled with your team-mates,” said Viduka. "With the World Cup coming I didn't really want to do that. “I’d go anywhere but I love England. “Me and my wife have been living in the UK since 1998. Speaking about playing in the English Premiership, Viduka said: “It's a great league, probably the best in the world for entertainment, there's a bit of properness about it here. “When you go to other places, sometimes the players are not being paid, they are struggling. “In England if you've got a contract everything is black and white. “Apart from the weather it's a great place to live.” Finished the forward. in favorites | email this page
