Two goals in either half from Francileudo dos Santos gave Tunisia a well deserved 2-0 win over Australia in the final match of Group A, of the Confederations Cup in Germany.

Australian goalkeeper Michael Petkovic gifted Santos his first goal in the 26th minute, spilling the ball in the area after colliding with Lucas Neill.

And the Brazilian-born striker sealed the victory with a close-range finish for his second goal on 70 minutes.

Australia wasted several chances to get themselves on the scoresheet with Tim Cahill one of the guilty parties, most notably a miss from a one-on-one with the Tunisian goalkeeper, that, at the time, would have levelled the scores.

The game was played for pride, and bragging rights, as the result was of no consequence, because, due to earlier results, both teams had already been knocked out of the competition.

Australia had already turned a few heads during this competition for their attacking, open style of play, and well deserved too. But one has to admire the way that the Tunisians went about their play, and have shown to be a future force, on not only the African stage, but as an opponent to reckoned with in the future.
