Arsenal's Thierry Henry 'Not Worried' Over France's Performance Against SwitzerlandSubmitted by Pavlos Skoufis on Wed, 14/06/2006 - 11:31.
France and Arsenal FC striker Thierry Henry said that the goal-less draw against Switzerland was not a worrying sign for the 1998 World Champions. "It would have been better to start with a win but there were positive aspects in this game... I am not worried," Henry said. The Arsenal striker admitted that South Korea will not be an easy opponent to win, but added that "we have to win". He said that South Korea do not play a defensive game like the Swiss did last night, and that their defence tactics will allow more space for France's strikers. France's coach Raymond Domenech wants to keep all the positive elements from the match against Switzerland and played down criticism that the French national football team is based on players who are too old for major international competitions. "It was not a physical problem... The players were fit and ready," Domenech said. "Now we have to win against South Korea. It could be a tense match but great players and great teams must be able to raise their level on big occasions," indicating that South Korea are a team which must be respected. Claude Makelele was the man of the match last night and the French coach believes that his players can make a difference, after a very disappointing performance during the 2002 World Cup held in South Korea and Japan. in favorites | email this page
