Everything is still to play for in European qualifying Group 7 as Serbia and Montenegro, Spain, and Bosnia-Herzegovina all registered victories in their penultimate group matches.

Serbia and Montenegro won 2-0 in Lithuania; with ex-Chelsea star Mateja Kezman opening the scoring just before halftime. Zvonimir Vukic added the second in the closing minutes of the game. The victory leaves the Serbs in the driving seat at the top of the group on nineteen points, two clear of Spain, with the Bosnian’s a further point adrift

Atletico Madrid’s Fernando Torres, the wunderkind of Spanish football, scored two goals in four minutes to maintain Spain’s challenge for automatic qualification.

Spain’s coach, Luis Aragones, brought Arsenal’s Antonio Reyes on to instant effect after 53 minutes. Within seconds he fed a long ball to Torres for the first, and minutes later he provided the cross to make it 2-0 for the Spanish.

Bosnia-Herzegovina completed a comfortable 3-0 win over San Marino. Veteran striker, Elvir Bolic, completed a second half hat trick to keep their hopes of qualification alive. All eyes will now move to Wednesday, when Serbia and Montenegro will have to beat Bosnia-Herzegovina to confirm their place at next summer’s final. Spain are away to San Marino, and what should be a straightforward win. They will be hoping for the Serb’s to have a bad night in Belgrade.
