Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg is certain to miss Sweden's World Cup warm-up friendly against Steve Staunton's Republic of Ireland because of a calf injury, Sweden's national team doctor Magnus Forssblad said on Monday.

"It's impossible. He's got a bleeding in the calf and it hurts when he walks," Forssblad told Swedish news agency TT. "Fredrik will probably be out for another week."

Wednesday's match at Landsdowne Road in Dublin will be Sweden's last scheduled match before Sweden coach Lars Lagerback names his final World Cup squad on May 9.

Sweden have been drawn in Group B with England, Paraguay and Trinidad & Tobago at the World Cup Finals in Germany which kick-off on June 9.
