Arsenal Manager Arsene Wenger Hints Brazil and England As World Cup 2006 Winners

Arsene Wenger spoke to reporters about his thoughts on next year's Germany World Cup tournament. He favoured Brazil and England as the next World Champions while he remained cautious about his homeland, France.

"With England you feel, for this generation and now in this tournament, it is a little bit now or never because they have the right age and the right quality."

"They will be among the favourites. I don't rule out Germany because they play at home. To beat Germany in Germany will never be easy for anybody. If you stick to talent, you will say Brazil," Arsene Wenger told reporters.

The fact that Zinedine Zidane, Claude Makelele and Lilian Thuram have returned to the French squad for the World Cup 2006 tournament does not seem to calm Wenger's fears about France's chances of repeating the success of the 1998 World Cup.

"France will still be a dangerous side, I just think their average age is a bit high to win the tournament. If they have everybody fit, well rested, then they have a chance. I would not rule them out completely, but it must gel," the Arsenal FC manager said.
