Argentina v Mexico Match Preview - Bolton's Borgetti Starting For El Tri, Chelsea's Crespo Starts, Messi & Tevez On BenchSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Sat, 24/06/2006 - 19:15.
Argentina’s Albiceleste face Mexico’s El Tri in the last sixteen of the World Cup Finals in Leipzig on Saturday, in the second match of the World Cup knock-out stages. Argentina’s star players including striker Hernan Crespo, playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme and captain Juan Pablo Sorin both return to starting eleven for the match, with the winner of this clash due to the face hosts Germany in the quarter-finals. Argentina right-back Nicolas Burdisso is sidelined with a sprained right knee so West Ham’s Lionel Scaloni will replace him. Chelsea’s Hernan Crespo leads the attack, with Javier Saviola in behind him with Lionel Messi and Carlos Tevez starting on the bench. Mexico striker Jared Borgetti has returned from a thigh injury, with the Bolton striker partnering Jose Fonseca up-front. After their closed training session on Friday, Argentina head coach Jose Pekerman gave some insight into the mood in the camp before the knockout game against Mexico. “We just had a couple of training sessions after the Holland match. But we tried to make maximum use of it. Now we have to see how the physical condition of the players is. I think after the Holland game, the players have become fitter,” said Pekerman. in favorites | email this page
