Argentina & Manchester United Left-Back Gabriel Heinze Making Swift Recovery & May Be Fit For World Cup FinalsSubmitted by Scott Harkness on Sat, 25/03/2006 - 10:43.
Argentina and Manchester United left-back Gabriel Heinze's chances of getting fit for the Albiceleste's World Cup challenge are improving by the day, Manchester United said on Friday. The experienced Argentina defender, who ruptured knee ligaments during Manchester United's Champions League match against Spanish side Villarreal in September, could be fit by the end of April and playing again before the end of the season, according to United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz. “Everything is going fantastically for Gaby so far and, hopefully in four to six weeks, he will be fit,” Queiroz said. “He is not training with the team yet, just following his individual recovery preparation, but he is doing well. “We will not rush him, just follow the recovery process week after week but we still hope he could play again before the end of the season.'” Heinze has recently returned from France where he has spent a long spell of rehabilitation and Queiroz said Manchester United was liaising with Argentina team doctors, who are also monitoring the left-back's progress. “The most important thing in all this is the player and whether he is totally recovered and ready to play,” said Queiroz . “The final decision to give him clearance should be made by us and the Argentine medical staff.” in favorites | email this page
