Aragones' 'Furia Roja' Schedule International Friendly Matches Against Cote D'Ivoire & Russia In Spain's World Cup Build-Up
Spain have scheduled a friendly international match against the Cote D’Ivoire on March 1, as preparations begin for this year's World Cup Finals the Spanish Football Federation said on Tuesday. It will be the first ever meeting between the two teams.
Coach Luis Aragones' teams match against the West African side, who are making their World Cup Finals debut in Germany this summer, will take place in the José Zorrilla stadium in the Spanish city of Valladolid.
The SFF also confirmed that Spain will play Russia, who failed in their qualification for the finals, in Albacete on May 27, and have also stated that they were in the process of trying to arrange two more World Cup warm-up matches in the week before the tournament proper begins in Germany on June 9.
Spain’s ‘Furia Roja’ were drawn in Group H in the World Cup Group stage, along with the Ukraine, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.
The Ivory Coast have been drawn in Group C, arguably one of the toughest groups in the World Cup Finals, alongside Argentina, the Netherlands, and Serbia & Montenegro.
