Angola's Palancas Negras Satisfied With Performance in Historic Match Against Portugal

The Palancas Negras have finished their historic match against Portugal with a 1-0 loss, but this was not enough to deter the team from hoping.

"We are quite content because we played well enough in the game and we were dignified," Figueiredo said in the press conference after the game.

Angola did not go down easily and even threatened Portugal's goalkeeper Ricardo (who has the same name with Angola's keeper). The Portuguese tried several times to break the Angolan defence but with no luck.

"But we are not totally happy because of the goal. We always want to win and we really wanted to win against Portugal," Figueiredo added.

Angola's goalkeeper Ricardo gave another dimension to the match. "Maybe we were a little bit nervous in this game. It was a huge occasion for us... Not all our players are used to performing in such conditions." he said.

"This performance has given us confidence for the next game. Even though it was a defeat, I think we will be a little more ambitious, a little more positive in the next game against Mexico," Ricardo added, signalling a different attitude in the next match.

"We want to win the game against Mexico. They are a very strong team, on a par with Portugal, and we respect them... But we don't want another moral victory, we want a real victory with three points," Figueiredo said.
