Angola's Palancas Negras Qualify For 1st Ever World Cup Finals At Nigeria's Expense
Angola are the winners of Africa Zone Group 4, and have qualified for their first ever World Cup Finals. This is at the cost of the once mighty Nigeria, who’s Super Eagles will miss out on the finals for the first time since their first ever appearance in the World Cup in U.S.A 94.
Angola’s Palancas Negras have stunned all the other teams in the group to win a place in their first ever World Cup finals. A 1-0 win away to Rwanda was enough to see the Angolan’s beat Nigeria to the top-spot.
Even though Nigeria, with a 5-1 against Zimbabwe, ended on equal points with Angola, their head to head record was taken into account, and the fact that Angola beat Nigeria at home, and then held the Super Eagles to a draw last month was enough to see them progress to the Finals in Germany next Summer.
