AC Milan Swoop To Sign Real Madrid Surplus Striker RonaldoSubmitted by Niraj Prabhu on Wed, 17/01/2007 - 12:53.
Just after a day he was told he was surplus to the requirements at Real Madrid, the former three-time FIFA World player of the Year and Brazil star striker Ronaldo is being linked with a two-year contract with European giants Serie A side AC Milan. Reports in Italy suggest, the 30-year-old last-remaining Galactico at Fabio Capello’s Real, has agreed financial terms with Milan. Ronaldo’s agent Fabiano Farah, who met Rossoneri Vice-President Adriano Galliani on Tuesday, is expected to deliberate on the transfer issue with Real sporting director Predrag Mijatovic. Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon on Tuesday said: “It would surely be better for the club and Ronaldo if he went if there are offers. If not, he will stay with us.” La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that Milan have offered Ronaldo, who still has one-and-a-half years on the contract at Madrid, a £4m per season offer, plus his entire image rights worth a lucrative £8m a year. Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad, who have signed Ronaldo’s former team-mate at Real and Inter Milan midfielder Luis Figo for the next season, are also in with an offer for the Brazilian striker who is the highest scorer in the FIFA World Cup finals. That apart, Brazilian side Flamengo, and MLS clubs are also interested in Ronaldo, who joined Reak from Inter Milan in 2002. Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon, however, renewed his interest in Ronaldo’s international team-mate and AC Milan attacker Kaka. Milan meanwhile signed goalkeeper Marco Storari, 30, from Messina on a three-year deal. The move was necessitated after Australian Zeljiko Kalac suffered a serious knee injury at the weekend. in favorites | email this page
