AC Milan Striker Christian Vieri Linked to Possible Transfer to Tottenham Hotspur

Italian and European press reports have linked Italy's veteran striker Christian Vieri with a possible transfer to English Premiership Club Tottenham Hotspur. Vieri is eager to move to a European Club where he can get more games, and prove himself to Azzuri Coach Marcello Lippi.

AC Milan vice president Adriano Galliani told the club's television channel today that "Bobo (Vieri) feels well with Milan, but also feels that he could miss his last chance to play in the World Cup as a result of his limited playing time."

The 33-years-old Italian international is currently in a 4.2 million euros a year contract with AC Milan and his contract expires in June 2007. Galliani said that any deal will be on a "friendly" basis, meaning that both AC Milan and Christian Vieri would only go ahead with any deal if both sides agree.

He had few appearances with AC Milan this year and only managed to score two goals. AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is using Alberto Gilardino and Andriy Shevchenko as Milan's striking duo, thus getting Vieri on the bench.

Azzuri coach Marcello Lippi has said that he will favour players who frequently play in Serie A and other European Championships for Italy's World Cup Squad. This leaves Vieri eager to find a different team which would start him in most matches.

I think he would do well with Spurs and with Mido gone than it would work out for both parties

spurs have 4 good strikers and even without mido should have enough firepower to maintin their champion's league push.

Tottenham and Martin Jol don't need to go back along the lines of previous managers and start recruiting old has-beens like Vieri who are washed up and at the end of their careers. Stick to the young policy and build for the future...COME ON YOU SPURS
