AC Milan Star Kaka Eyes History With Champions League Win Over Liverpool – The Reds Are “Tactically & Physically Strong”Submitted by Niraj Prabhu on Fri, 18/05/2007 - 15:29.
AC Milan star Kaka is looking to write his name in the history books with the Champions League final victory over Liverpool on May 23 in Athens. The 25-year-old Brazilian has been in sensational form in the European competition this season, top-scoring with 10 goals so far. He was instrumental in Carlo Ancelotti’s side dumping out Manchester United in the semi-finals. Kaka was named the best midfielder of the Champions League tournament in 2004-2005 season when the Reds had won the final against Milan on penalties. He was voted into ninth place for the European Footballer of The Year Race then. However, the former Sao Paulo man is now considered a favourite for the European as well as World Footballer of the year awards. "It is great to know I have the faith of my team-mates and this is already a victory for me," he said. He added: "Individual prizes are always important, but if I win anything, it is because of what I have done with the team. "To be regarded as a decisive player is important, but one player alone is never capable of winning a game." On the Reds, he said: "Liverpool are a very strong team, both tactically and physically. "They try to do more than the typically English teams. They never give up and have decisive players who can make a difference. "They have put Barcelona out and you can see what great traditions they have in the Champions League." He said: "Beating Manchester United was really important because they were the strongest team in Europe. "I am delighted to reach the final and would say this is the most important game of my life. "When I arrived in Milan, I always wanted to write my name down in the history books, and to do that, I have got to win the Champions League." in favorites | email this page
