Speaking to reporters in Luanda, Angola, prior to his departure for Ghana, today Franz Beckenbauer advised the Angolan Football Association officials to send the team early to Germany in order to adapt to the German climate.

During his time in Luanda he met with the country's head of state Jose Eduardo dos Santos, with Angolan Football Federation officials, and attended a ceremony where the official invitation from the German 2006 World Cup organising committee was delivered.

He told reporters that the main purpose of his visit to Angola is to point out that the preparation of the World Cup Finals Angola Squad needs to adapt to the cultural and other realities on Germany's soil.

Beckenbauer said that Angola is a good team, as it managed to qualify for the world cup in a very tough group with Nigeria, one of the powers of Africa in terms of football. This fact, according to Beckenbauer, proves that Angola are a strong team and are certain to make a good appearance in next summer's World Cup Football tournament.
